A billion dollars for tents in the desert, water trucked in daily, one iPad for thousands, emergency calls, quarantine, deaths, and somehow the official story still expects us to call this “detention” instead of what it is. The cruelty is not hidden. It is floodlit. That may be the most American horror of all: build the camp in plain sight and trust the public to keep scrolling. The crosses outside Camp East Montana are not metaphors. They are names. And if a nation can spend $1.2 billion to cage people in tents, it can afford to stop pretending this is anything but policy violence with a purchase order.
