This hit like scripture written on sunburnt skin. Juneteenth is not the end, not the celebration of completion, but the passing of the torch mid-race—with blistered feet, cracked voices, and ancestors still running beside us.

Thank you for naming the suspicion that greets Black joy in public. The world doesn’t just fear rage, it fears unshakable joy. That’s why joy is resistance.

Some of us weren’t handed this fire by blood but picked it up by spirit, by choice, by vow. And we carry it because liberation isn’t charity. It’s the return of what was always stolen.

I’m not marching for ally cookies. I’m marching because I remembered I’m not free if you’re still in chains, and the only heaven worth walking toward is the one we build down here.

Let’s carry the fire like it’s sacred. Because it is.

I just told my wife that I would support our entire government in the hands of black folks. They are more patriotic and passionate about how our country should be governed.
