Thank you so much. ❤️ She built something sacred—and we all have a role to play in protecting it. The world won’t get better on its own. But if we link arms? Just maybe. ✊🏽
Thank you for reading. ❤️ It’s true—so much of our story has been overlooked, mislabeled, or erased on purpose. But we’re still here. And we’re not going anywhere.
Thank you so much. ❤️ She truly is. A hundred years of faith, grit, and stubborn love—and somehow, she still makes it look effortless. We’re lucky to be hers.
You are so lucky to have her. I cannot tell you how emotional your post made me. My grandparents had 14 kids and they grew up on potato farms in Houlton - in the Northern part of Maine on the New Brunswick border of Canada. There were three younger than my dad. I remember VERY WELL the size of celebrations like this - the one you had for your grandmother. Those times were the best. So many have of my relatives have passed including my mom who passed from Covid on Dec 23 early in the morning. I was blessed to be with her.
This is searing and beautiful. They will never understand because what they’re trying to erase is not “Spanish”—it’s love that outlives their petty fears. It’s the strength of a grandmother who danced at 100 and raised generations with more soul than their whole movement will muster in a thousand lifetimes. Let them send their masked goons. We’ll send maracas and grandmothers and rice and beans—and outlast them again.
This was powerful. You didn’t just read it—you heard it. Thank you for naming what this is really about: not culture, but love. Not language, but legacy. Let them bring fear. We’ll keep showing up—with grandmothers, maracas, and a century’s worth of soul they’ll never understand.❤️🪇🔥
Beautiful! Your family is our nation. Without your family we are not the USA. You belong. You have a right to be here; respected; revered. Happy 100th to your Abuela!
That means more than I can say. ❤️ My abuela carried a century of strength on her shoulders—and still found a way to dance. We are this nation. And we’re not asking to belong. We already do.
Bless your grandmother! Thank you for pointing out the ladders that some want to deny & destroy for those that come after them. It as about control and the pride. They want to make it seem like they fell out of a coconut tree, when in fact all they have was given to them.
Yes! That’s exactly it. ❤️ They want to pretend they started from scratch—when really, they were handed the map, the ladder, and a leg up. My grandmother built everything with nothing. That’s the difference. One is earned. The other is inherited pride. Thank you for reading and sending blessings to my grandmother.
She surprised us all—it was like her bones remembered joy before her body caught up to remind her how old she was. ❤️ Thank you for celebrating with us. In a time like this, holding onto joy is resistance.
Thank you for sharing this, Lisa! And for your grit and determination and care about the travesty America is living through now. Happy 100th birthday to your strong, beautiful grandmother! And blessings to you and your whole family!!
Thank you so much. ❤️ It means the world to be seen in all of it—the grit and the grief. My grandmother’s strength runs through all of us, and we’re doing everything we can to carry it forward with our heads high. Blessings right back to you.
Congrats to your grandmother. The century girl has had a great life and her family belongs in America much more than the people that are in charge right now and think the country is theirs and the rest of us have to live by their rules. They forget that the original settlers stole the country from the indigenous. In my Substack I posted a video collection from Heather Cox Richardson explaining why we don’t have, or ever want, a king.
A hundred years of quiet power and stubborn love—she’s lived through so much, and still dances. ❤️ And yes—you said it. This country doesn’t belong to the people trying to rewrite its story in their image. We’ve been here. We’re staying. And no, we will never bow to a king.
What a beautiful testimony to your grandmother, your family, and your heritage! I could feel the love in your words and pictures. How sad that this story needed to be told because of what is happening in this country. But I am thankful for your sharing, and it has enriched me. We, the people, will survive!
Thank you so much. ❤️ I wish stories like this didn’t have to be wrapped in resistance—but I’m grateful it resonated. My grandmother’s love made us strong, and now it’s our turn to carry that strength forward. We, the people, will absolutely survive—and we’ll do it with soul.
Beautiful truth for your family and countless others. I stand beside you all. I’ve met and truly admired so many families of all walks of life and from many cultures and we all need to listen and to love one another.
Thank you so much. ❤️ That kind of solidarity matters more than ever right now. Families like mine—and so many others—carry generations of love and struggle. Standing beside each other, listening, and honoring our shared humanity is how we move forward. Together.
God Bless your Grandmother she look beautiful and thanks for your courage to stand up to Trump and his regime I am an Caribbean Immigrant and I know how it feels but we will overcome this it may take years to bring back what he has unravel I believe in God he will deliver us from that evil regime 🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️ thanks for sharing
Thank you so much. ❤️ Your words mean the world—especially coming from someone who knows firsthand what this kind of injustice feels like. I believe in our people. I believe in truth. And I believe we will overcome this—together, with faith, and with fire that can’t ever be extinguished. 🙏🏾❤️🔥
Gracias, hermana. ❤️ I receive that blessing with all my heart. And yes—la lucha continúa. We’re still here. Still standing. Still fighting for what’s right.” 🩷🔥
Thank you so much! ❤️ I’ll be sure to tell her she’s got fans out here blessing her in triplicate! She’s as strong as she is beautiful—and I’m so proud to be part of her legacy.
You have every reason to celebrate and be proud! What a beautiful family!!! It should inspire all of us to join hands and make the world better.
Thank you so much. ❤️ She built something sacred—and we all have a role to play in protecting it. The world won’t get better on its own. But if we link arms? Just maybe. ✊🏽
I would link arms with your family any day! Look at all that love!!!
Thank you for sharing. It’s interesting that so many people do not know this.
Thank you for reading. ❤️ It’s true—so much of our story has been overlooked, mislabeled, or erased on purpose. But we’re still here. And we’re not going anywhere.
And what a beautiful family it is…. Thank you for this. Your grandmother is a wonderful lady.

Gracias de corazón. ❤️ That’s what this was for—to remind us we’re not alone. Our familias carry so much. And now, we carry it forward.

Absolutely, Lisa. It takes a village—and your family is so large they definitely qualify as one. Joyful resistance!
